Yes, I did it!

Yes, I made it; I finally bought a new bag. I have been looking for a new black mid-size bag for ages and last week killing time in Mango Touch found one and now went back to purchase it. I really love the pompom on it and the size is great for every day use.

I was surprised for the merchandising of the Mango Touch; luxurious paper bag with really long black sateen ribbons and flower prints also inside the bag. Well the mark is supposed to be "Premium Accessories Collection", so in that sense they have succeeded, but still I was not expecting that "expensive" free bag as the items in the shop are not that costly and actually you can find way too cheap polyester or imitation leather goods as well.

The only thing that failed was the salespersons's part; a really fancy and chic women collected my payment, but she didn't put the bag to a fabric one that was inside the leather bag. You know that the worthy bags usually come with an extra fabric bag where you can store it when not in use, or at least that would be the idea. Mostly these extra bags just give a plus feeling to the buyer, but with this Mango Touch experience it didn't really work as I found the thing only at home...so one minus to the chic woman who served me; maybe the items are premium, but the service is still lacking its final touch...

Juicy Colors by Mango Touch

Few days ago I had to kill time and it was when I entered to Mango Touch, an accessory store by Mango. This autumn Mango launched own concept store to its bags, gloves, belts etc. and my impression of it is really colorful and juicy. They have typical leather imitation bags that are extremely cheap, but also they have genuine leather and suede ones and those are real pieces, of course more expensive, but affordable. You can't be without touching those juicy bags! I need a new one as my old is already loosing its look and it is also too big. I don't need any shopping bag, as the bigger the bag the heavier it is, as I fill it, and uncomfortable to use. At the end you can't find anything from it! Mango Touch has several medium size bags with tremendous colors, but...I will choose a boring, but useful black one...I know, I know, it is completely boring etc., but I really am not in a place to buy a vivid color bag. I know I would use it only in some, few occasions. Although the one with the stripes would be awesome...

They do have the neutrals from all of these bags; black and brown ones.

A good spot!

I never purchase my stockings from Calzedonia, but I do really like their "25-years together" -spot, especially the theater scenes. Good atmosphere and it is only about socks&stockings.

I love that jersey!

Already a while ago when passing a mall I saw the cover of H Magazine, November Issue 2011. I had to stop and grab it to see the beautiful cover of the issue. What a wonderful jersey!  Soft, smooth and flowerish, but in an abstract way. I continued my way, but today I had to return to buy the magazine, the jersey was haunting me. I was positively surprised when knowing the designer is Sita Murt, a Spanish designer! Lately I have discovered several brands that I though were French to be Spanish ones, later for sure I will do a cavalcade of them.

Sita Murt; I knew there is a designer with that name+shops, but I never had entered any or investigated what lies behind the brand. I thought the clothes would be a bit too serious for me, too expensive as well...  A visit to the website revealed a collection of jerseys and the H Magazine cover jersey will be in my "let's save for the sales"-list. Absolutely simple and stunning!

Beautiful lamps

Previously I haven't paid too much attention to lamps, or I haven't had any particular idea how a lamp should be. back in time when I was a student I always had the classical paper lamp, which was cheap and quite practical to take from one place to another. Now in my own flat, and especially after painting the rooms I have been paying more attention to the lamps out in the market, which one should I pick? There are beautiful options, but also expensive ones and then again those ones that would need lot of space around them. Here I listed some of my favorites, but yes, finally bought one economic and really basic from Habitat. But still I can admire the designers choices to beautiful and big homes.

Fun 1MD by Verner Panton, so girly, but modern.

Icarus by Tord Boontje; I love feathers!

Drop Light by Christian Cubina, more for the kitchen maybe.

Pendant Lamp A330S by Alvar Aalto, I would put this to the bedroom.

And finally; Sophie from Habitat. This one I finally bought, and yes, it is a bit boring compared to the others.

Chocolate from NY

The New Yorkers know how to do it; to brand chocolate. Two cases; Mast Brothers Chocolate from Brooklyn and MarieBelle from Soho, both a pleasure to eye and taste. My dear friend who lived in NY has introduced me to these chocolate makers. Mars Brothers is a family business, which uses only cacao and cane sugar as ingredients.  MarieBelle is a "Haute Chocolatier" that has understood the importance of packaging when the target group is a prestige one. Less is simply more. I love the look of both chocolates, and yes, both are also enjoyable to eat although the bitterness of dark chocolate is completely something else that I am used to with more industrial milk chocolates. Great choice as a gift!

Sweet and homy design with Mars Brothers.

More elegant option with MarieBelle.

Funny book

Yesterday I bought a funny book; 101 Things I learned in Fashion School by Alfredo Cabrera with Matthew Frederick. It caught my eye while visiting a museum shop and after visiting the exhibition I had to return to the shop to buy it. It seemed like containing funny, but wise and ironic ideas to fashion students. In Author's Note Cabrera says: "A good fashion design curriculum encourages students to come up with informed, creative solutions to the problem of dressing people for their lives. In my years of teaching, I have found that the greatest obstacle to this goal is not the acquiring of technical proficiency or adequate intellectual information -...- but in accepting the need to design to real people." Yes, I do agree. Already the word fashion gives a certain extravagant and maybe silly air to the theme and that is why I always prefer saying that I have studied clothing and textile, and not fashion. I have such an practical approach to garments that we are wearing, so that "fashionfashion" is not the word for me. I am not fashionable, although I do follow what are the trends and new things out there.

Mango versus Mango

Logotype changes or modifications in the look of packaging is always interesting. Usually the the first impression, at least for me, is that "why did they changed it as the old one was good enough". Well, the old one was good enough and you liked it simply, bec you were so used to it...

One of the latest companies to change the logotype has been the Spanish clothing company, Mango. The Catalan firm, has had a neat, soft logo for ages, since the creation in 1984, and this autumn they have modernized it. My first opinion about the new logo was that it was a bit too steely, that the old one was more soft and human maybe, but now when I have seen the design applied in shops and paper bags of Mango I start to like it.  It is more actual, I have to admit it, and more suitable to the "fashion for the young, urban woman", that the company is searching. According to me, Mango's style is kind of business chic, stylish, but casual office wear.

Other thing which is fantastic is their Que me pongo? -section. What a great idea to shoot small series of working ladies wearing the firm's clothes. I am hooked to the mini series and I have already bought some items of the latest collection, just bec I saw the clothes in the clips and the information about the clothes was so easy to achieve. I am a victim of good marketing...

Finally got a Blahnik

As my first post I want to share my very first Manolo Blahnik-shoe, and yes, it is only one and hanging on a chain. The Catalan jewel company, TOUS, collaborated with Mr. Blahnik and the result is this lovely classic model, Mary Jane as a necklace.

For me, my Blahnik-shoe is even more special, because I had my birthday back in October and was not expecting my boy to buy any present apart from one jersey that he had paid when we were shopping (I had been slightly disappointed that he paid my purchase and said: "This will be then your birthday present."), so when I had this TOUS-present waiting in my pillow I was happily surprised. In fact I was more delighted for the gesture than for the shoe itself...

I haven't been too much of a fan for TOUS, but now, maybe me getting older, I have started to like this Spanish  family company's jewelries...not their Teddy bear-classics, but some of the other models. They are enough simply to like them.
